Hi! Today I would like to share sooo cool news. I not only read the book "Frankenstein", but also watched a play about this wonderful work. And if you decide to do the same, then go ahead and read and find out what is better: watch or read to find out who is Victor and who is Frankenstein!
Mary Shelley wrote the greatest work of all time, "Frankenstein", which shocked absolutely all readers with its unusual plot with elements of Gothic romanticism. Later, performances of the story began to appear on stage. And now I would like to speculate on the topic, which is better: a play or a book?
First of all, I would like to note that both options are good in their own way. But let's take the book first. We can read and reread the scenes we like, and get into the very idea and description that the author prepared for us. We can read a detailed description of the monster and imagine it in our head, thereby training our imagination and memory. And reading has never been a bad sign, on the contrary, it develops a lot of skills that can be useful to anyone. But if there are pros, then there are cons. This is the reading time, unfortunately, this work is quite large, so you will need to spend more than one hour to enjoy the world of a lone monster in the world. And also, the book was written several centuries ago, which makes it difficult to read, since there are outdated words. But the play is completely different. It takes a little time, allows you to "watch" the book and we can easily see the emotions of any character, as the actors are able to play it perfectly. But the stage cannot contain the vast amount of scenery that a book can contain. The play does not always exceed our expectations, as the director's point of view may differ from ours or from the author's. Only the director decides what the character should be. Also, due to the reduction in time, the scenes are also reduced. And we can't always understand the actions of the characters, because the director just crossed it out, considering it not so necessary in the play.
And finally, which is better: a book or a play? I believe that different options are suitable for each person. It is best to read a book and go to the play(especially if it is played by such wonderful actors!) to better fix the material in your head. And then we can better understand the emotions of Victor Frankenstein and his creation. At first there will be dissonance, but then you will get used to it and remember the plot for many years. Isn't that wonderful?
